Roll7 announce competitive action game Laser League

Bafta award winning developer Roll7 has lifted the lid on its new sports title, an arcade multiplayer action game called Laser League.

Laser League is a 4 on 4 future sports game with an arcade feel. It’s too early to call it an esport, but it’s for sure competitive and is launching in early access on the PC “fully featured” in the summer of 2017.

The game has nodes, lasers, colours and it’s nearly impossible to put the trailer into words, so here’s the trailer. Take a look. It’s lasery.

In terms of features, the game will have over 60 characters, and it’s class-based with six different classes over 10 maps. It’ll also feature unlockable customisations. No telling how well it’ll take off, but competitive indie games could offer a new avenue for some esports, and Roll7 might be hoping for the sort of success afforded by games like Rocket League.

Roll7 are best known for Skateboarding sim OlliOlli and it’s sequel, in addition to political shoot-em-up Not A Hero. The team will be teaming up with 505 Games for Laser League. You can sign up for their official beta at the game’s site.
