Naughty Dog has delayed Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End until Spring 2016.
The move was announced on the PlayStation Blog by game directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, who claimed that title is now “much more ambitious than we originally envisioned”.
“Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title,” read a statement.
The last Uncharted title, Drake’s Deception, was released on November 1st, 2011.
Naughty Dog has seen a number of senior staff quit during the development of Uncharted 4, most notably Uncharted series creative director Amy Hennig. At the time, a statement from Sony said “the development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted”.
In March 2014, game director Justin Richmond left the studio to work at League of Legends developer Riot Games, while a month later Last of Us lead artist Nathan Wells quit to join Unfinished Swan studio Giant Sparrow.
