Unity Technologies released a new update to its popular game engine today, and claims the improvements are the biggest and best yet.
Unity 3D has made a swift rise to fame as a 3D game engine capable of putting triple-a production values in a browser window.
Unity 3.5 now supports Flash, and includes a preview mode for publishing to Adobe SWF format.
Changes include a new particle effect system, dubbed ‘Shuriken’, which makes it possible to group particle effects and treat them as a single entity, and a built in pathfinding system.
The update also includes Google Chrome native client deployment support, and automatic hyperthreading which places most of rendering and driver overhead onto a seperate core on multicore systems.
