Unity has secured a deal with Intel that will see games published through the engine outfit’s Union platform released for smartphones and tablets powered by the Atom processor.
The deal will see a number of Unity authored Android titles published on Google Play and other markets through Union, the games syndication business model that sees groups of games selected by the tech company pushed to various non-traditional platforms such as set-top boxes.
“We want developers to have as many opportunities for distribution as possible,” said David Helgason, CEO, Unity Technologies.
“We are very excited to bring even more Unity-authored content to innovative new Intel Atom processor-based Android devices.”
Intel director of Software Alliances Kumar Balasubramanian added: “Android devices based on the Intel Atom processor help offer consumers the best mobile experience with compelling performance and energy efficiency.
“Intel understands games play a healthy role in the user’s overall computing experience. Adding a compelling line-up of Union games helps us provide the games and apps Android owners know and love on their devices.”
The current catalogue of Union games stands at 120 titles. For now, Air Attack, Samurai, and Frisbee Forever have been selected for the Atom deal, with the possibility of many more to be added later.
