Upcoming Xbox One controller adapter for PC will work exclusively with Windows 10

The newly-announced Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows will only work with the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system.

Revealed alongside the new 1TB Xbox One machine and redesigned Xbox One controller, the memory stick-sized dongle allows players to connect said gamepad to their PC for use with compatible titles.

It will be available both on its own for $24.99 (16) and bundled with a new controller for $79.95 (52). UK pricing is yet to be released.

However, the adapter will operate exclusively on the upcoming Windows 10 OS, Microsoft has now confirmed (via Polygon). A USB 2.0 or 3.0 connection is also required.

Set for release on July 29th, Windows 10 will be a free update for existing owners of Microsoft’s last two Windows platforms – 7 and 8.1.
