Attendees to be given an early look at Steam OS, prototype Steam Machines and more

Valve to host developer-only Steam conference in 2014

Valve will hold is first ever developer conference next January, and it looks to be an exclusive event for developers only.

Steam Dev Days takes place in Seattle on January 15th to 16th, 2014, and the newly unveiled conference website says it aims to be an event “where professionals can meet in a relaxed, off the record environment”, meaning that press will not be welcome to report from it.

Topics on the agenda include game economies, VR, Linux/OpenGL and user-generated content, with more to follow.

It also promises to give developers direct access to Valve’s Steam Team, and a chance to test drive and offer feedback on Steam OS, prototype Steam Machines and controllers.

Pre-registration is open now and a fee of $95 is required to register. Reserve invitations are said to guarantee a place until October 25, when registration becomes first-come-first-serve.

Valve is also welcoming developers to host sessions at Dev Days, and those interested should send submission to steamdevdays@valvesoftware.com.

More information about sessions and speakers will appear on the conference website in the near future.
