VIDEO: Current and next-gen versions of Call of Duty: Ghosts compared

IGN has compiled a video comparison showing how Call of Duty: Ghosts performs on current-gen and next-gen consoles.

It will come as no surprise that the game certainly packs some additional visual flourishes on PS4, although truth be told the gap is less pronounced than in titles such as Battlefield 4, which is an early flag-bearer for next-gen visuals.

Perhaps more concerning for Activision is Ghosts’ Metacritic performance – the game currently has a Metacritic average of just 73 per cent on PS3, 75 per cent on Xbox 360 and 78 per cent on PS4.

Going back through previous years for comparison – on Xbox 360 Black Ops II scored 83, Modern Warfare 3 scored 88, Black Ops scored 87, Modern Warfare 2 scored 94, World at War scored 84 and Modern Warfare 94.

So from 2007 that has seen a scoring sequence of 94, 84, 94, 87, 88, 83 and, this year, 75.

What’s worse, Battlefield 4 currently has a Metacritic of 80 on Xbox 360, 84 on PS3 and 87 on PS4.

Anyhow, here’s the video:
