Vote in the Golden Joysticks, get a free game

Online retailer Green Man Gaming is giving away a free game to everyone who votes in the Golden Joystick Awards.

Voters just need to choose between downloadable PC games Sid Meier Civilization V and Mafia II (while stocks last, but we’ve been advised there is plenty of stock..

The move is part of the firm’s sponsorship of the event, that was announced last week. Gamers must vote for who they would like to win, and then register for the free game from the GMG microsite. Gamers will be sent their code within 24 hours.

It’s a potentially smart move from GMG, which is eager to attract more consumers to its growing website. It should also boost Golden Joystick votes, while publisher 2K Games – which is supplying the software – will be able to generate money from all the DLC available for both titles, should consumers wish to purchase them.

"The Golden Joystick Awards is the only video game awards ceremony that is truly driven by gamers. Green Man Gaming wanted to reward those people who have turned great games into successful games, the gamers themselves,” said Green Man Gaming Founder and CEO Paul Sulyok.

Now everyone who votes, and has already voted, in the 2013 Golden Joysticks has the chance to benefit from a free game from Green Man Gaming, thanks to our friends at 2K Games.”

The Golden Joystick Awards 2013 takes place at the Westminster Park Plaza on Friday, October 25th.
