War Child has announced an impressive list of confirmed partnerships for its Armistice 2018 fundraiser, with publishers involved supporting efforts of the anti-war charity.
Wargaming and Gameloft are two of the returning names for this year’s annual charity, but this year they’re joined by big publishing names like Bethesda Softworks, Bandai Namco, IGG, and Playstack, all coming on-board to support the initiative.
Armistice 2018 is this year’s edition of the annual fundraiser – the clue’s in the name – and aims to inspire the gaming community to take action and raise funds for children whose lives have been (and are) impacted by war. The project promotes peaceful gameplay throughout November, coinciding with Armistice Day, November 11.
DLC, in-app purchases and even entire new games can be bought to support Armistice, and the event has raised $390,000 (£301k) since its inception in 2016, involving war-focused franchises like Verdun, World of Tanks, and Total War. Confirmed content for 2018 will be announced later in the year.
“We’re thrilled with the support we’ve received so far, with some of the best developers and publishers in the world pledging their time and resources,” said Wayne Emanuel, gaming partnerships manager at War Child UK, “The offer to gamers this year is better than ever, fitting for the 100th anniversary of Armistice, while publishers and developers have a great opportunity to connect with their players in a new way – all in support of a great cause. We’re always looking for more partnerships and opportunities in the gaming space and look forward to announcing more in the coming months.”
