Wargaming bring mobile port of PC title back to the PC, with a few changes

Wargaming bring mobile title World of Tanks Blitz to Steam

Wargaming are bringing their hit mobile game, World of Tanks Blitz, to PC’s today via Steam. You’ll remember Blitz as the mobile version of Wargaming’s successful PC title World of Tanks, but redesigned for touch-screen interfaces.

To bring the title back to the PC (and Steam), Wargaming have had to redesign the touch-screen interface for a keyboard and mouse, the same interface used in the original World of Tanks. For those confused as to why Wargaming would bother when they already own World of Thanks, which is one of the top 10 performing free-to-play titles in the world, the key is that Blitz will run on lower-end computers, opening up the title to those who want to play on stripped back machines around the world that might not be able to meet the specifications required for Blitz’s older brother.

For World of Tanks Blitz though, it’s all about choice. Product director Andrey Ryabovol said in an emailed statement: “With the game already available on Windows, Google, and Apple stores, Steam was a natural step. We want to give our players freedom when choosing where, when, and through which channels they want to play World of Tanks Blitz. We’d like to welcome our new players and encourage everyone to join in and have fun battling across iOS, Android, Mac OS X, and Windows devices.”

It’s promising for developers of other mobile MMOs to consider their options of porting, although admittedly few developers have the financial power of Wargaming behind them.
