Warner confirms new Batman title

Hot on the heels of Warner’s acquisition of Arkham Asylum developer Rocksteady, the publisher has confirmed a new game starring the Caped Crusader.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold the Videogame is an action adventure title based on the cartoon TV series of the same name.

It will go on sale for the Nintendo Wii and DS this autumn and allows players to control Batman and other characters including Robin, Green Lantern and Aquaman.

Warner Bros says it will allow kids, families and friends to play together” by solving puzzles and fighting foes in a two-player co-op mode.

Gamers who own both Wii and the DS consoles will gain access to Bat-Mite as an additional playable character.

The story will involve journeying through crime-filled allies, alien planets, abandoned underground cities and mysterious laboratories”. The feel of the game seems a far cry from Rocksteady Studio’s dark 2009 hit Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Senior vice president of development and production at Warner Bros, Samantha Ryan, said: Batman: The Brave and the Bold the Videogame further illustrates the diverse appeal of the Batman brand and the gameplay is a fun, vibrant extension of the animated series.”

Players will also have the ability to use Batman’s iconic gadgets such as batarangs and a grapnel gun when the game goes on sale in autumn 2010.
