Warner making LEGO toys-to-life game, report claims; No Five Armies DLC for Hobbit

Yet another company is to enter the toys-to-life category, according to online rumours.

Videogamer claims to have word that Warner Bros is currently developing a toys-to-life game based on the lucrative LEGO franchise.

The publisher declined to comment when pressed on the matter, although Traveller’s Tales’ associate producer Tim Wileman has previously alluded to the site that it has an upcoming project in the works that will push the boundaries” for the brand.

The toys-to-life category is becoming increasingly crowded. Having launched the genre in 2011, Activision’s Skylanders has since been joined by Disney’s Infinity brand and, more recently, Nintendo’s Amiibo range.

In other LEGO news, Warner has told GameSpot that, despite previous reports, it will not be releasing any Five Armies DLC for its LEGO The Hobbit game. The current title only covers the events of the first two movies An Unexpected Journey and 2013’s The Desolation of Smaug and does not include the events of the trilogy’s final film.

It’s not known whether the rumoured DLC has been cancelled or was in fact never in production in the first place.

There are two other LEGO games in the works this year – LEGO Marvel Avengers this Autumn and LEGO Jurassic World this summer, a new gameplay trailer for which can be seen below:
