Watch Dogs is still the fastest selling new IP in Europe

Ubisoft has confirmed to MCV that, according to GfK data, Watch Dogs remains the fastest selling new IP in Europe… not Destiny.

In the week that followed the arrival of Destiny, Activision proudly declared that the game had become the fastest selling new IP after one week in the UK and US – beating the record previously set by Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs in May.

Yet Ubisoft has told MCV that the open world hacking action adventure still sold more in its first week than Destiny managed across Europe as a whole.

A spokesperson told us: "You may have seen the report on Destiny’s sales in the UK. Just thought you’d like to know that, across Europe, Watch Dogs remains the fastest-selling new IP ever after one week, according to GFK panel.

"Congratulations to Activision and Bungie for taking the title in North America and the UK, but Watch Dogs is still going strong and we’re proud of everything that the Watch Dogs team has accomplished so far.

Ubisoft has just announced that Watch Dogs: Bad Blood, new story DLC, is available now to Season Pass holders on PS4. It launches on Xbox One at the month.
