Wii dominates the living room

More than half of US Wii owners keep their console in the living room.

A recent survey by US research firm Nielsen shows that 59 per cent of Wii consoles are found in the lounge. Rival consoles PS3 and Xbox 360 follow close behind with 45 per cent and 42 per cent respectively.

The bedroom is the next most popular home for games machines, but figures here are considerably lower. Only 14 per cent of Wii owners house their console here, outperformed by PS3 at 16 per cent. The Xbox 360 rules the bedroom with an attach rate of 28 per cent.

Another 10 per cent of US gamers play in the master bedroom, and seven per cent in the basement.

Bizarrely, one per cent of consoles are stored on the deck, porch or patio outside.
