Social gaming powerhouse Wooga tnowdedicates more of its workforce to making mobile games than social games, it has emerged.
The news is only significant considering that German outfit Wooga established itself as a stalwart of Facebook games development. Now, it has emerged in an interview on Gamasutra with Wooga CEO Jens Begemann, that the studio devotes 60 per cent of its workforce to mobile, while 40 per cent remain focused on Facebook.
"We made this decision a year ago," Begemann said. "A year ago we only had 10 people working on mobile. Now it’s over half of the 250-people company."
Begemann insisted Facebook is still important to the company, but cited the potential growth of mobile as the reasoning behind Wooga’s gradual restructuring to emphasise games on phones and tablets.
"We still see growth on Canvas and obviously it’s still bigger, but the growth on mobile is extremely fast," offered Begemann. "The PC will become less important, and with that the browser, and with that Canvas. But that’s really mid-term."
