The WWE franchise will continue, despite the liquidation of publisher THQ.
The WWE licence was not up for sale as part of THQ’s auction last night and was returned to WWE.
A tweet from the official WWE Games Twitter feed said: "We don’t have any details to share yet, but there WILL continue to be WWE Games. Stay tuned for more information and some exciting news!"
However, reports on various sports and video games websites, including IGN and Kotaku, say that Take-Two are the frontrunners for the brand. Take-Two operates a 2K Sports label. The firm also acquired the Evolve IP and game from THQ in the auction last night. Evolve is a new game in the works by Turtle Rock Studio, the team behind Left4Dead.
