Xbox killer story gathers pace

The UK mass media is today using video games as a hook in a major story about a murder case in Manchester.

BBC News, Radio 1, Radio 4, commercial radio, The Daily Mirror and more have called Shane Boyd – today convicted of the murder of Conor Black – the ‘Xbox killer’.

Boyd, 16, will serve at least 11 years for murdering Mr. Black, who died minutes after being stabbed outside his house in Moston, Manchester on August 16th last year.

The court heard Boyd confronted Mr Black outside a house party in the early hours over the alleged theft of an Xbox console.

Boyd left the house and smashed his victim over the head with a can of lager, before stabbing him in the back as he turned to escape, the jury heard.
