Microsoft says Xbox live subscriptions have reached 46 million – a climb of eighteen percent from last year.
The company gave its Q3 earnings report today, remaining silent on the topic of its new console despite a slight drop in sales for the Xbox 360.
The given figure of 1.3 million consoles sold over the past three months is down nine percent from last year.
All told, the Xbox has sold 77 million units.
It’s impossible to say how many of these are still in use, but the figures for Xbox Live show that just under 60 percent of consoles sold are connected to the service.
The Entertainment and Devices Division revenues rose 56 percent to $253 despite the drop in console sales.
The only hint of the Xbox successor came when the division said its growth in operating income had been offset by a 28 percent growth in research and development cost, which totaled $113 million.
The Xbox might be slowing, but the services it offers are still growing, and Microsoft is eager to call that a win.
"The bold bets we made on cloud services are paying off as people increasingly choose Microsoft services including Office 365, Windows Azure, Xbox Live, and Skype," said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
"While there is still work to do, we are optimistic that the bets we’ve made on Windows devices position us well for the long-term."
