Xbox One Wireless Adapter no longer limited to Windows 10

Consumers can now use their Xbox One gamepad with their Windows 7 and 8.1.

Previously the Xbox Wireless Adapter – which connects an Xbox One controller to a PC – was to be limited to Windows 10.

This announcement comes via Xbox’s Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson), who revealed on his Twitter page that the Xbox Wireless Adapter would work with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

The revelation that PC gamers would be able to use Xbox One controllers wirelessly with their rig came earlier this year. Until now, PC users have been limited to using a wired version of the Xbox One gamepad.

In June 2014, Microsoft released drivers which allowed wireless gamepads to be used with their PC via micro-USB cables.
