Zattikka nabs MTVs Breton

Social and casual gaming firm Zattikka has announced the appointment of Joel Breton as its new executive vice president of North American operations.

Breton is the former director of content at the MTV-owned AddictingGames.com. During his time there it grew to become one of the leading casual games portals in the US.

His former roles include a stint at Sega where he was involved in titles such as Sonic and Knuckels, Virtua Fighter and Panzer Dragoon. Other employers include GT Interactive, Bethesda, Take-Two and Hudson.

In his new role Breton will be tasked with commissioning new IP and targeting possible acquisitions, both of which were outlined as key priorities for the firm by CEO Tim Chaney in yesterday’s exclusive interview with MCV.

The US is a huge market with unequalled importance in terms of social, browser and mobile gaming,” Chaney stated. In line with our aspirations and strategy for rapid growth, hiring Joel gives us access to his wealth of product and industry knowledge and kick-starts our presence in this vital territory.

I am delighted that we have been able to attract a candidate of Joel’s calibre to join our ever-expanding dream team.”

Breton added: It’s an exciting moment in the game industry and it is an excellent time to join the all-star team at Zattikka to address the growing social and online markets. The games industry is experiencing a surge toward online, social and mobile gaming and I am thrilled to work with the experienced team at Zattikka to create and publish hit games for these exciting platforms.”
