Zumba Fitness beats Davina in chart workout

Step aside, Davina – Zumba is the UK’s true fitness champion.

The original Zumba Fitness has sold more copies year-to-date than the hit TV presenter’s latest workout DVD Ultimate Target.

McCall’s latest sold 25,000 copies between January 1st and January 14th, according to data from The Official Charts Company. Zumba Fitness 2 alone sold just as many copies in the same period.

Combine both Zumba titles’ sales and the 505 Games franchise has outsold the Top Three fitness DVDs since the year began, including Jennifer Ellison’s Fat Blaster Workout and Pump It Up – Move It, Lose It.

And the video games fare even better when you look at Christmas sales.Davina’s newest DVD debuted on December 5th, while all other titles in the Official Charts Company’s sports and fitness charts Top 20 were released throughout the month.

MCV research shows that between December 1st and January 7th, the original Zumba Fitness comfortably sold more units than the Top 20 fitness DVDs combined. This includes workouts from McCall, Jillian Michaels, The Only Way Is Essex girls, Christine Bleakley and even the official Zumba Fitness DVD workout

The Top 20 racked up a total sales count of just under 150,000 units. Take Zumba Fitness 2 into account, and the pair nearly doubled the unit sales of the Top 20 DVDs during the same period.
