Social gaming veteran says new not-quite-an-incubator will fuel his next projects

Zynga’s Mark Pincus founds Superlabs

Mark Pincus, co-founder of online gaming giant Zynga, has opened a new firm to work on new "digital concepts" he has been planning since stepping down as CEO last July.

Earlier this year, Pincus also stepped back from his CPO role, but remains as chairman for the troubled casual games firm.

Pincus’ new company Superlabs – also based in Zynga’s hometown of San Francisco – is designed to get new projects off the ground, but the founder doesn’t "want to call it an incubator exactly", according to Re/code.

Instead the companies will "work on a variety of digital concepts he has been mulling over since leaving behind his day-to-day role at Zynga".

Pincus is funding the new venture himself.
